Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 30, 2026
This policy explains what the Teen AutoLog app (the "app") collects, why, who can see it, and how you can delete it. Teen AutoLog is made by Greyson Lynn, an independent developer ("we", "us"). Questions: support@teenautolog.com.
Who the app is for
The app is meant for parents and legal guardians, who create the account and keep the log. In this version teens do not sign in. A teen's details (such as their first name and drives) are entered by their parent or guardian. The app is not directed to children under 13.
What we collect
- Your account: the email address and name you sign in with (Apple, Google or email and password).
- Your family log: each teen's first name and state, and if you choose to add them, the permit date and permit number; the names and roles of supervisors (for example parent or instructor) and, if you add it, a supervisor's driver license number when your state's log asks for it; and which parents share the log.
- Drives: the date, start and end time, minutes driven, day and night minutes, distance, the conditions you tick (such as rain or highway), notes, and who supervised.
- Location during a drive: while a drive you started is recording, the app uses your phone's GPS to measure the distance, work out night hours from sunset and sunrise, and save the route (about one point every 100 meters) so you can see it on a map. Recording continues with the screen off until you stop the drive or it saves itself after 10 minutes parked. The app does not collect location at any other time.
- Files you add: photos, PDF or CSV files you attach as proof of hours logged before Teen AutoLog.
- Purchases: whether your family has unlocked the app. Payment is handled by Apple or Google; we never see your card details.
- Messages to us: what you send when you email support.
What we don't do
- No advertising, and no advertising ID.
- No tracking or analytics tools that follow you across apps or websites.
- No selling or renting of your information, and no sharing it for marketing.
- No driving "scores" or judgments of your teen's driving.
How we use it
Only to run the app for you: to keep your log, count hours against your state's targets, share the log with the parents you invite, make your printout and CSV, restore your data on a new phone, unlock purchases, and answer your support requests.
Who can see your information
- Your family: the parents or guardians you invite to your family log can see and change it. The account owner can remove a member.
- Service providers that run the app for us: Google Firebase (sign-in, the database and file storage, on Google Cloud servers in the United States); RevenueCat (keeps track of your unlock); Apple and Google (sign-in and in-app purchases). They process the information only to provide their service.
- Us: only when needed to keep the app running or to help when you contact support.
- The law: if a valid legal request requires it.
How long we keep it, and deleting it
We keep your family log for as long as you have an account, so your hours are never lost. You can delete your account at any time in the app (☰ menu → Delete my account), or by email. See Delete your account for the steps and what is removed. If you are the owner and another parent shares the log, ownership passes to them and the log stays theirs; when no one is left, the family's data is deleted. Deleted data is removed from our systems within 30 days.
Your choices
- You can see, change, export (PDF and CSV) and delete your drives in the app at any time.
- You can turn off location permission in your phone's settings. GPS recording then stops working, but you can still add drives by hand.
- You can ask us for a copy of your information, or to correct or delete it, at support@teenautolog.com.
Security
Information travels between the app and our servers encrypted. Access to each family's log is limited to that family's members by security rules on our database. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and keep the app's data to what it needs.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top and, for important changes, tell you in the app.
